The latest BMW 1 Series hatchback will be adding a new member to its lineup this 2021. Reviving the “ti” name, the BMW 128ti brings an extra spirit to the current hatchback lineup. “TI” name was made famous by the iconic racing pilot Hubert Hahne; he bagged 14 wins of 16 starts with the 1800 TI in the European Touring Car Championship in 1964. Holding the record of being the first to lap in Nürburgring in under 10 minutes in a touring car.

Consequently, the “ti” badge comes with a lot of pressure in its name. Well, the BMW 128ti is coming. Although not in race tracks, but it will certainly attract many home garages. In comparison, the front-wheel drive BMW 128ti sits just below the top-of-the-range model of BMW 1 Series thats is the BMW M135i xDrive.

Similarly propelled by a 2-2-liter engine four-cylinder with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology with a power output of 195 kW (265 bhp). And accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds. Yet, the all-new BMW 128ti is more than just its resemblance to the BMW 1 Series, as it clearly stands out on its own. Comprising of distinct exterior and interior features, its entire suspension and steering also offers supreme sporty aura and driver-oriented dynamics.

With a standard 8-speed Steptronic sport transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential, better traction on the front axle are given. It was 10mm lower and has a specifically tuned M sport suspension. Including the specially adapted BMW Performance Control for that greater agility.

And to get that precise and direct response, the BMW 128ti steering has been specifically aligned to the vehicle. It also appears to be 80 kilos lighter than the BMW M135i xDrive, which apparently also has the highly pre-stressed stabilizer bearing and the stabilizers.

Meanwhile, wheels are available in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S without extra charge, including the M sport brakes with red calipers. Information regarding its price isn’t available yet, but we are certain that it will begin to hit the market on November 2020.
