A Rendered Look of the BMW i4 from M Division

The M Division approaches the future as electrified. Inevitably, the sportscar departments will need to follow this path, which the automotive world is already in pursuit of. In fact, the X8 M allegedly carries the form and shape of the M Division’s first electrified model.

At a future date in 2022, this extremely luxurious SUV will come out and aims to highlight a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Accordingly, this drivetrain produces more than 700 horsepower output. The good news is there will also be other M electric products to perform in the pipeline. This includes the next-generation BMW M5. However, the BMW i4 electric vehicle is the biggest revelation that will come next year.

According to Markus Flasch, the CEO of BMW M, the first previewed concept car last March is the i4. It will also become the first M-fettled vehicle from the future electric lineup of the company.

Another thing to take note is that the i4 will become part of the M Performance Automobiles family and not as an all-embracing M product. The M340i, M440i or M550i are the possible line-up that the BMW i4 joins. With the standard M aero parts found both at the front and rear, most of the upgrades are possibly visible. It is also expected to see some sportier accentuations matched with the M fragments inside its cabin.

Thanks to Andrei Avarvarii, a rendering of the BMW i4 shows up, and the aero bits we mentioned were integrated. While power upgrades or suspension are still in place, these aero fragments are also easily recognizable. Evidently, a higher cost for this electric range would be possible especially with its higher power output and added sporty suspension.

During his talk with CarAdvice, Flasch mentions the unveiling of the first battery-electric M car in the performance segment. Confirmation still awaits, though, if it will follow the look and configuration of the BMW i4. Although it’s too early to tell more about other upcoming vehicles, the BMW M CEO also highlights their plan of producing “hybrid electrified performance and high-performance cars”. Flasch further emphasized their goal of producing fully-electric M cars while also taking the time to produce them. The team aims to built it in a way that it can perform like the M3 or M4. For the time being, this rendering of the BMW i4 that we will see next year is enough for us to expect more from the M Division.
