BMW Team RLL Expects 7th Consecutive Podium Finish

With six consecutive podium finishes, BMW Team RLL expects to chase its seventh at the Laguna Seca. The team oozes with confidence as they head to Monterey, the penultimate venue of the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

BMW Team RLL Expects 7th Consecutive Podium Finish

BMW Team RLL’s record for the championship is almost implausible. The six consecutive podium finishes added two victories under their name. Further, the team snatched two second place and five third place finishes. Overall, these records pushed BMW to second place in the GTLM manufacturer championship. BMW M8 GTE takes the spotlight in this championship and continues to uphold BMW’s race image. John Edwards and Jesse Krohn sit in third place in the driver’s championship. Connor De Phillippi and Bruno Spengler follow closely in fourth place. As a whole, the six podium finishes leveled up BMW Team RLL’s portfolio.

To drive the No. 24 BMW M8 GTE this weekend, John Edwards expresses his optimistic view of this weekend’s race. He notes how Laguna has always been a challenge because of the low grip surface and high tire degradation. But Edwards is optimistic that it will give them wins and podiums like before. Lastly, he has high hopes for their success this weekend. Jesse Krohn shares the same outlook as Edwards. He emphasized that he and Edwards are still in the title hunt. Therefore, they will need two solid weekends to secure their place. And based on their records, Krohn thinks Laguna Seca will give them a good start.

BMW Team RLL Expects 7th Consecutive Podium Finish

Laguna has been very generous to BMW in the past. The iconic BMW 3.0 CSL took its victory at Laguna Seca with Hans Stuck back in 1975. At that time, it was BMW’s first time racing in the U.S., and they were considered rookies in IMSA. People even thought BMW stood for “British Motor Works.” Nevertheless, BMW Team RLL snatched podium wins in Laguna Sec for the 2015, 2017, and 2018 championships. In 2019, Edwards and Krohn even claimed the second place finish with then BMW M8 GTE. Therefore, BMW Team RLL expects a great race this weekend too.
