[Video] Will the 2021 BMW M340d Touring Outshine the M340i?

The BMW M340i Touring is luxurious and a top pick for many. Simply because it promises that impressive handling and M3-like speed. A perfect match for your everyday rides, indeed. However, the new 2021 BMW M340d Touring threatens to challenge M340i’s current reputation.

Joe Achilles introduces the new 3 Series model in this video. He specifically aims to check if the M340d Touring’s additional low-end torque and efficiency can really outmatch the M340i in the market.

A 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six diesel engine replaces the B58 engine of M340i, resulting in a 335 hp and 516 Nm of torque. BMW claims that it helps the M340d Touring to get from zero to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds. As for Achilles, he was able to hit it twice in just 3.69 seconds. Despite this impressive time, it’s still a bit slower than the M340i.

Thanks to its effortless boost of diesel torque, the M340d Touring can also drift around quite easily. Its torque can break the rear tires loose with less effort, thus giving a better work than the M340i. The 3-Series engine is just remarkable. Achilles proves this in the video as he easily caught and hold the slide.

The new BMW M340d Touring would really shines on a normal back road. Comfort and space just completes your desire for a practical and fun car. However, everyone can argue which one would be the best – the M340d or the M340i? It all depends on your own set of preference, right? The BMW M340i Touring is still the car for you if you want more efficiency for your driving pleasure. But if you want a more efficient and practical one, then the M340d Touring might be the best suitable car for you.
