Possible Fuel Tank Leaks for the Latest BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra

The BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra are two of the latest cars from the two famous brands. What we don’t usually know is that both of these cars were manufactured at the same factory in Austria. With the same architecture, the Z4 and the Supra also utilize the same engine and gearbox. The problem is there might be possible faulty fuel tank welds for these icons. Thus, it might be best to call your dealer and make sure whether your precious Toyota Supra or BMW Z4 is part of the most recent recall.

According to the sources, there are just 49 models as of now. This includes 35 Toyota Supras and 14 BMW Z4s. With no recorded injuries coming from it, these were the very models that were recalled for the said issue. Therefore, there should be nothing to worry at this point of time. Nevertheless, it is still a critical issue that should be resolved.

In the case of some type of ignition, it seems that some of the fuel tank welds could be faulty. This could result in leaking tanks that could catch fire. Thus, it is possibly serious and needs to be taken care of as early as possible.

The VIN ranges of the Z4 cars that could be affected by this issue have not yet been publicly released by BMW. However, we are already expecting that they will contact the owners soon. Nevertheless, it should be helpful if you should contact your local dealer. Checking out whether your Z4 or Supra is part of the recall or not is an important step. Accordingly, once your car is part of the recall, they will give a quick and simple solution. Your dealership company will replace the fuel tank with proper welds, and this will be free of charge.

Last year, both of these cars have also encountered recall for a seatbelt issue. This is a not-so-good display of image for these pretty good sports cars. We can just all hope that the new BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra would stay out of recalls, knowing that both are great cars.
