[Video] MINI JCW takes Toyota GR Yaris on a track battle

The spectacular world of small hot hatchbacks has become more interesting with a new rival. Though the MINI JCW GP still takes center stage of this range, a new competitor challenges its place. It’s the fantastic Toyota GR Yaris. In this video, MINI JCW takes Toyota GR Yaris on a track battle.

The new Toyota GR Yaris took the automotive industry by storm. It fascinated journalists across the world and impressed spectators with its numbers. Nevertheless, the MINI JCW GP still stands as the hardcore small hot hatchback. But this video only compared the Toyota GR Yaris to the standard MINI JCW.

Notably, the video features the conventional MINI JCW without its GP title. The GP designation signifies the most high-performing MINI, the same as the Yaris. In other words, the GR title also shows the most high-performing Yaris. Still, the MINI JCW GP is both more robust and expensive.

Going back, the Toyota GR Yaris and MINI JCW have some obvious differences. Under the hood, the MINI JCW has a massive engine. Its 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine generates 231 horsepower. Great numbers for such a small car. On the other hand, the Yaris weighs lighter and has a more robust engine. Its 1.6-liter turbocharged engine produces 261 horsepower. These numbers give the small Japanese hatch the advantage. To be fair, both cars sport six-speed manual gearboxes.

Another significant difference between the small hot hatchbacks comes through their rubber. The Toyota GR Yaris wears a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Everyone knows that these tires perform the best for both track and road. On the other hand, the mini wears a set of Pirelli P Zero tires. These tires perform well too, but not as good as the Michelins. All things considered, check how MINI JCW takes Toyota GR Yaris on a track battle.
