BMW iX2 – A Potential Future in the Electrified Cars Range

A BMW iX2 is a possible attraction in the future, according to an article of AutoBild.de. This is the electrified version of BMW X2’s second generation. The third-generation BMW X1 is where the upcoming BMW X2 is based on. According to BMW, the former arrives in 2022 while the latter will be revealed in 2023. As of now, we are spotting some testing and numerous test mules of the X1.

The entry of BMW iX2 in the market will evidently advance the electrification plans of the company. As a result, BMW will probably produce 12 fully electric vehicles by 2022 and 2023. The “Power of Choice” movement, a movement that offers a powertrain for every type of consumer, will also include the second-generation BMW X2 in its lineup. At the moment, the X2 gains an electrified drivetrain appearing as an X2 plug-in hybrid.

The BMW iX2 will be available with the all-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive variants. This is a similar offering with the already-confirmed BMW iX1. The AWD iX2 will allegedly produce 246hp, while the FWD variant will probably come with 177hp. Although AutoBild mentions that the electric driving range of the iX2 will be around 245 miles on a full charge, it is still purely unclear as of now.

The expectations for the new X2 still involves the design language of its current generation. However, many enthusiasts aim for slightly larger kidney grilles. Its hatchback-like rear end and sporty outlook are also a plus, including its coupe-like roofline. Evidently, the BMW iX2 will feature a slightly distinct design just like how any usual BMW electric car is configured.

The new X2 and U11 X1 will both come from BMW’s plant in Regensburg. As for the production of the electric X1 and X2, it will take place in the Leipzig plant.
