[Video] The BMW 750i and Porsche Panamera Turbo in a drag race

When engineering cars like the BMW 7 Series and Panamera, the production team has to balance the comfort that’s anticipated from these models but still offer them outstanding output to appeal to a buyer of these sporty models. This video from Pilot Tseno Cars focuses solely on speed while a BMW 750i is competing against a Porsche Panamera.

A 4.4-liter twin-turbo engine propels the BMW 750i through an eight-speed automatic with all-wheel drive. Thus, generating a whopping 523 horsepower (390 kilowatts or 530 metric horsepower) and 553 pound-feet (750 Newton-meters) of torque.

On the other hand, is the Porsche Panamera Turbo with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine. It produces an impressive 542hp and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) through an eight-speed gearbox sending power to both axles.

The BMW gets a nose ahead in race one initially, but the Porsche can pull ahead. The Panamera manages to cover the quarter-mile in 11.35 seconds, and at 11.95 seconds, the 750i is only a little slower.

The two cars will switch sides of the runway for the second race. This time, BMW seems to be having an even better start. However, the lead doesn’t last. Their quarter-mile times are nearly the same as the first sprint.

A tuned RS6 Avant enters the Third Drag Race to change things up. The upgrades from Abt push the production to around 700hp (522 kW). It wins the quarter-mile comfortably, with 150hp more than the BMW or Porsche. In 11.16 seconds, the Audi covered the gap. The Porsche requires 11.35 seconds, and by taking 12.0 seconds, the BMW is at the rear.
