The MINI Countryman EV will be the first all-electric model in the new full-electric plan by MINI. In 2023, the MINI Countryman EV will start its production in Leipzig and partakes the platform of the upcoming BMW X1 and BMW iX1 models. It’s clear to see how BMW intends to go electric by 2030 with these expectations in mind. MINI also announced that the next generation of the British crossover would have a fully electric variant.
The MINI brand will phase out internal combustion engines by 2030, as verified by BMW earlier this week. MINI will then embrace a full-electric operation by 2030. This news isn’t shocking as it seems to be because such rumours have been circulating for years. MINI’s decision to switch to a full-electric lineup will make sense. It would enable the company to reclaim its “urban conqueror†status, which made it prominent in the first place.
According to the BMW Group, MINI is now transitioning to an all-electric future with plans already in place. MINI will be introducing a new MINI model with an internal combustion engine for the last time in 2025. MINI anticipates fully electric cars to account for more than half of its gains by 2027. It will be based on the MINI Cooper SE model’s sales.
In addition to that, BMW announced that starting in 2023, China would produce an extensive range of MINI electric models in partnership with a local carmaker, Great Wall Motors. After Brilliance Automotive, Great Wall Motors will be the BMW Group’s second Chinese carmaker. The two firms plan this transition for many years, but this is yet another long-awaited piece of news.
