BMW’s Chinese Car Plants will be Carbon Neutral

In every angle of its business, the Bavarian brand remains committed to reducing carbon emissions for a long time now. They are focusing on issues other than tailpipe emissions to serve that purpose. BMW’s plants all over the world are now powered by renewable energy. By the end of the year, the company’s Chinese plants will now be carbon neutral as well. This is following the announcement released earlier this week.

This project will result in the finality of BMW’s plans to go greener. With Chinese plants remaining, BMW succeeds in converting all of its plants worldwide to carbon-neutral locations. As a result, China will start to change their bad to good reputations as they begin to convert to being an eco-friendly country. The Shenyang plant is BMW’s largest facility worldwide. In terms of output capacity in recent years, it surpasses the Spartanburg plant. Therefore, the Bavarian brand will benefit greatly from making the Chinese plants’ carbon neutral facilities.

According to local regulations, the Shenyang plant is administered in partnership with BMW’s local partner, Brilliance China Automotive. For this reason, there will be less carbon footprint on their products. In addition, BMW stated that by 2030, its total carbon emissions in the Chinese production chain would be reduced by 80 percent. By 2025, the Bavarian brand wants electric cars to account for up to 25 percent of its overall sales.

Both of these objectives are lofty yet doable. BMW also plans over the next decade to reduce its environmental effect by a significant amount. The Munich-based automaker aims to reduce the average life cycle emissions of its vehicles by 2030. Compared to the 2019 figures, the company plans to raise the numbers by more than 30 percent. With the growing popularity of electric cars, this goal will most likely happen.
