[Video] Get up close on the new BMW iX’s design details

When the BMW iX debuted in 2014, it received mixed reviews among fans and enthusiasts. It’s got that offbeat exterior and wacky interior design that turned some people off. However, you can’t deny that it is one of the Bavarian’s boldest vehicles since the i3. Over time, this Bimmer, with its quirks and unusual style, received applause and appreciation. With that, we can expect the iX to continue to win us over with its numerous distinct array of features and styles, as shown here in our featured video.

Autogefühl curated this video from the 2021 IAA, showcasing every bit of design detail we need to know about the car. This video presents features that you may have been familiar with but hasn’t had the opportunity to view up close. So, if you have plans to get the new BMW iX, this video may help you decide.

Right off the bat, it displays the car’s self-healing kidney grille-panel on its front fascia. But it’s essentially a sensor panel disguised as a grille. If you’re wondering what it is for, it is a self-healing coating on the front panel to make up for the fact that flat, bulky areas are vulnerable to damage by road debris. This self-healing layer allows scratches and chips to mend themselves, provided there is adequate heat.

While everyone praises the built and structure of the iX, the interior really leaves a lasting impression. The BMW iX’s interior is stunning and is utterly unique in appearance. It can also pass as one of the German brand’s most luxurious and refined cabins ever. This is due to several innovative features exclusive to BMW, like the new electrochromic sunroof. It also includes touch buttons installed in wood. Owners will enjoy these additional comfort creatures even after they have had their vehicle for some time.
