[Video] Bespoke BMW M2 CSL Turbomeister in Action

BMW unveiled the 2002 Hommage Turbomeister Concept car a few years back. It appears similar to the BMW M2 but only fancier. It features concept-style headlights and a “Turbomeister” livery inspired by the classic Jägermeister race cars. BMW enthusiasts loved it, with one, in particular, standing out among the others. BMWBLOG writer and BMW enthusiast Marc Rutten transformed an M2 Competition into the Turbomeister concept vehicle, which Joe Achilles got to drive in his most recent video.

The initial plan was to make a tribute to the 2002 Hommage Turbomeister Concept; Rutten ended up creating an M2 CSL in its place instead. In the beginning, it’s still got that apparent M2 Competition design cues. However, it later came with carbon fibre trims in the hood, roof, and rear diffusers. It also got lighter sport seats, lighter BBS wheels, upgraded brakes, and Akrapovic exhaust. This car also received a tuned engine, tweaked to produce about 500 horsepower. On top of that, it got a Turbomeister livery that closely matches the official M2 Competition concept.

Further in this video, we get to hear Rutten discuss the process of developing the livery. And as you watch, you realize just how the car’s design and mechanics were well thought out. Like when Rutten needed a smaller brake disc since conventional ones put the calliper too close to the wheel. This prevents pebbles from getting caught in between, shredding his costly wheels to bits.

Achilles got to experience what it’s like to drive the BMW M2 CSL Turbomeister. He was pretty impressed by its speed, as it seems. While driving on the autobahn, the speedometer reads a lot faster than on comparable M2s. And comparing its acoustics to the standard M2s, this one is also much louder and emotive. Whether it’s good or not will be based on your preference.

Looking at it, it seems like the Turbomeister of Rutten outshines other M2 builds we’ve seen. No details were overlooked, and the finished product appears to be a significant upgrade over the previous model. Play the video now.
