Dinan has been modifying BMWs for decades and is widely regarded as one of the best in the business. And this week, Dinan engineers boosted their tuning quality further by releasing new software for B46 engines. It’s designed to maximise the performance of the factory version while not causing any damage to your car. Just a refresher, B46 engines are the ones that power the popular BMW 330i. It’s found on BMW models such as the 530i, X3 xDrive30i, X4 xDrive30i, and Z4 sDrive30i, among others. It’s nearly the same as the B48, but with the fuel quality tweaked for the US market. Right now, it’s only available in North America, while the B48 is utilised globally.

With decades of experience, Dinan is undoubtedly the most trusted and reliable BMW tuner around. You could say it’s the only place where BMW owners could get upgrades without voiding their warranties, even after Steve Dinan left the company. In terms of methodology, their idea for the 330i isn’t all that new. If they find something wrong, they’ll have to look at your car again, read your ECU map, and then replace the software.

Because of the increased power, it is necessary to do this to protect the engine still. It keeps all the BMW-installed safety features while adding new ones: Dinan + and Dinan Stage 1 are the two alternatives available. The former adds 37 wheel-horsepower and 39 lb-ft of torque to your car’s current figures. That’s roughly 280 wheel horsepower, which is excellent. It’s recommended to go with Dinan + because of the tuner’s guarantee (50,000 miles or 4 years).

That is on standard 93 octane petrol. The BMW 330i power output should increase to at least 300 hp by incorporating race fuel into the mix. One thing to keep in mind is that these options are only available on the MY19-20 model for the time being. Stick around to get the latest updates on BMW tuning.
