The latest BMW M4 Competition gets its power output upgraded, courtesy of the AC Schnitzer team. Without any extensive modifications under the hood, the high-performance M car’s performance went from 510 PS to about 590 PS. According to the team, it still can go higher but that would only jeopardise the M car’s long-term efficiency. As one of just a few manufacturers giving a warranty on its enhancements, that’s enough to accept their word for it.
The BMW M4 Competition is already a quick and powerful vehicle, but this modified performance is just otherworldly. At standard, it carries a 3-litre straight-six, twin-turbo S58 engine, producing 510 PS and 650 Nm of torque. The rear-wheel-drive variant of the Competition model can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
When you get the all-wheel-drive system, your time lowers even more, to a little under three seconds. The variant in this video we’re featuring today is in the rear-wheel-drive. When it comes to acceleration, it is recorded to have the same top speed as the stock vehicle. Therefore, the difference is negligible.
Using the rear axle alone allows you to generate even more power, but how is this possible? Once it starts rolling, this AC Schnitzer monster, on the other hand, shows its value. As it keeps going, you’ll find that it generates impressive results.
In 7.04 seconds, the 100-200 km/h sprint is completed, and it takes a little over 40 seconds to reach 300 km/h from a stop. Not as great as the Chiron, but it’s impossible for the M4 to ever go beyond 250 km/h in standard. In terms of the car’s potential performance, one of the guys from the team said that it could go much higher. However, they ran out of space on the 3-kilometre stretch they had available for this test.
