Naked M4 GT3 joins colourful racecars at BMW Welt

The BMW M6 GT3 comes boldly naked, without a single drop of paint, at BMW Welt. Joined by the M4 GT3 primed with their colourful bodyworks, Samantha Tan Racing took delivery of the model. Despite the fact that a race car team relies on sponsorship funds to keep the lights on throughout the racing season, there’s something raw about seeing a race car without any paint on it.

Early this week, the handover took place at a special occasion held at the iconic Am Riesenfeld building near the Olympic Park. BMW Motorsport has handed over numerous race cars ahead of the M4 GT3’s debut in 2022. Since early 2020, a track-only M4 Competition Coupe has been under development.

The straight-six engine is 40 kg lighter than the original V8, and BMW Motorsport has managed to keep the car €4,000 cheaper than the M6 GT3. The Competition Package includes extra lighting, spring travel sensors, rear radar/camera system, and tire pressure and temperature monitoring system. Those who purchase the optional CP can spend a day in the M4 GT3 simulator.

The artistic livery of Samantha Tan Racing’s race car is by an Instagram artist known as theghostofmozart. The wheelbase of BMW Motorsport’s latest track toy is marginally longer than the M6 GT3 it replaces. With its fender flares and massive back wing, it’s a bit slimmer yet looks formidable. As a straight replacement for the F82 M4 GT4, the GT4 standard is a much more accessible M4-based racecar. The price has not been confirmed, but it is expected to be around €170,000 like its predecessor.
