BMW i4 eDrive40 takes on Polestar 2 in Comparison Test

You have a few decent options if you’re a customer looking for a bit small premium EV sedan and there weren’t any real options not long ago. A wider range of alternatives has definitely pleased customers now. In terms of being around the longest, best range and reasonable price, the obvious choice would be the Tesla Model 3. The BMW i4 and Polestar 2 are two European newcomers that offer intriguing possibilities for Tesla. You’ll find out which of the two newbies is the best in this new comparison test from Top Gear.

BMW i4 eDrive40 takes on Polestar 2 in Comparison Test

The results are somewhat skewed as the test features the BMW i4 eDrive40e and the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor.TG pits the dual-motor all-wheel-drive Polestar 2 against the single-motor BMW i4 eDrive40, as the Polestar is their long-term test car. In terms of both power and grip, the i4 was at a disadvantage due to its lopsidedness. In 4.5 seconds, the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor reaches 60 mph and produces 400 horsepower. On the other hand, the BMW i4 has more range but needs 5.7 seconds to hit 60 mph and only make 340 horsepower.

Besides, the driving experience with both cars is what matters more. The Tesla Model 3 is probably the better choice if range and performance matter. However, you could choose either of these cars if you want a more refined, premium driving experience. So which car is better to drive in terms of driving experience?

The BMW i4 eDrive40 is the better car in terms of driving performance. It offers a more pleasant steering feel, excellent chassis balance and a smoother ride. Ohlins dampers that are incredibly expensive are featured in the Polestar 2. Without improved handling, it makes the Polestar less comfortable than the BMW. The Polestar 2 is unquestionably the better-looking car with a more pleasant interior. On the other hand, the BMW wins if you want a more luxurious driving experience.
