BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will include xDrive In March

Compared to the usual favourite cars of most car lovers, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer seems an odd option. BMW is more known for its rear-wheel drive coupé models than front-wheel drive MPVs. Nevertheless, the Bavarian brand has decided to try again after the sales success of the first generation Active Tourer. This time, however, with more technology and an updated design.

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, launched last year, does not have the option of xDrive all-wheel drive. Since BMW confirmed in March that the MPV will have it, this is no longer an issue. Unfortunately, almost all the engines you can choose from the range will not have this system. But at least xDrive will initially be available for the range’s new model, the BMW 223i xDrive Active Tourer.

Under the bonnet, a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine with a mild hybrid drive will power the fifth model variant of this new MPV. A 204 HP of the combustion engine and 19 HP of a small electric motor provide a power output of 218 HP. BMW claims that the new model should reach 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. It includes new features of the new model in the extended range.

BMW offered the Piedmont Red Metallic body paint as a new colour. BMW expands the range of functions of the optionally available Driving Assistant plus to include Steering and Lane Guidance Assist. With the help of corrective steering interventions, the driver can effortlessly keep the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer in the middle lane at speeds of up to 180 km/h.

When driving through narrow spaces, such as motorway construction sites, the Steering Assistant also maintains an appropriate distance from lane markings and vehicles in the oncoming lane. The Driving Assistant Plus includes Automatic Speed Limit Assist and Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function. Speed limits and overtaking bans are displayed in advance on the Speed Limit Info System.
