When BMW unveiled the i3 sedan, with a few pictures from the same angle. We see the eDrive35L inside and out in official images and screenshots from the configurator. Fortunately, the company’s website in China, where the electric car will be exclusively available, now has its own page.
The i3 sedan is significant because it is the first electric 3 Series sedan, even if it is a regional product. There’s a preview of the 3 Series LCI which is due later this year. We have already seen the slightly revised headlights with new reversing lights. And now we can have a look at the rear lights too. There’s not much to see as they all look very similar. The G20’s taillights might not be updated as part of the mid-cycle refresh, which would explain why BMW is using the current taillights for the M3. The i3 sedan will feature redesigned bumpers and a closed grille with the I badge. The larger 19-inch wheels for the eDrive35L, available in both 18- and 19-inch, will be available in a two-tone design.
Rear legroom is greater as the i3 sedan is based on the locally produced 3 Series Li, which has longer rear doors. There is a similar charging socket on the front left wing as on the 330e. However, the fuel cap on the other right wing is for battery charging. It is safe to say that the i3 has a more appealing design than the i4, as the latter does not have a protruding kidney grille.
There are no combustion engines in this version of BMW’s 3 Series iDrive. We have already seen this technology on the foreign 3 Series LCI, so the i4 gets it too. For the good of the whole family, the new system should be adopted by all.
