[Video] Can the E92 BMW M3 be a Track Day Weapon?

The E92 M3 has the most enticing engine of any M3. Despite being nearly as massive as BMW’s modern V8s, this one has all of its individual charms because of its naturally aspirated 4.0-litre displacement. Last but not least, this new film from Misha Charoudin demonstrates how simple upgrades can transform a decent car into something truly remarkable.

The E92 M3 with a few minor mods is driven by a Charoudin’s channel fan to the Nürburgring to see the man himself. It appears to be the ideal synthesis of track-day performance and practicality for everyday use. It features minor upgrades, including KW Clubsport V2 coil overs, AP Racing brakes, an Akrapovic exhaust, and Apex wheels, but it retains its factory engine. It’s equipped with a dual-clutch transmission and has been styled with M Performance enhancements.

The video demonstrates how shockingly smooth it is, especially over the notoriously rough surfaces of the Nürburgring. So, daily driving is probably pretty cosy, especially in Germany. The seats are racing buckets, which might not be ideal for daily use but are probably not terrible. The cabin is quiet and air-conditioned, so you receive most BMW comforts.

Even so, the Akrapovic tailpipe is essential. A BMW S65 motor with an Akrapovic exhaust system produces superb noise. While not quite impressive as the new Dinan exhaust, it sounds fantastic nonetheless. It’s typical and quiet inside, plus it looks fun and is stable and snappy on the ‘Ring. The E92 M3 may be transformed into a fantastic track day toy with relatively minor modifications.
