Look: 2023 BMW X1 M Sport Arrives in All-Black Look

BMW’s third-generation X1 will be a commercial smash because of its expanded array of customization options. This specification opts for a minimalist all-black aesthetic, both inside and out. To clarify, we’re dealing with the xDrive23d, the top-tier diesel model at launch, upgraded with the M Sport Package. The kidney grilles are blacked out as part of the Shadowline package, which complements the vehicle’s Sapphire Black Metallic paint job.

Those 20-inch wheels don’t look excessive because the new X1 has been significantly stretched for the U11 version. The M Performance Parts catalogue has even larger 21-inch alloys for those who want to show off. Many people no longer view BMW’s base crossover, the X1, as the ugly duckling it once was during the E84 generation. We think the updated version looks elegant, at least from the outside, especially in a more expensive trim level.

It has grown in size and utility and now offers multiple fuel types and hybridization options in addition to the all-electric iX1. Since it’s an xDrive23d, you should expect to find a 2.0-litre turbodiesel powerplant under the hood. The four-cylinder engine provides 200 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque to both wheels via a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. BMW says the car can achieve 140 mph (225 km/h) and 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.
