Finally at hand is the new BMW M2 G87! Although the BMW Team already got the opportunity to film the new M2, the colour choice for their car was Toronto Red. Zandvoort Blue, a completely new shade for the M2 G87, was also presented by BMW just recently. It’s not a surprise to witness the light blue colour choice. Although there have been numerous leaked images of the car, this is the first time the colour has been shown. We also get to see the BMW M2 G87’s whole colour scheme in the video. These colours include Alpine White, Brooklyn Grey, Toronto Red and Sapphire Black.
The new M2’s driving dynamics are also, of course, provided by BMW. The 3.0-litre inline-six S58 twin-turbocharged engine from the M3, M4 and X3 M brings excitement to the M2 G87 Coupe. However, it has a lower horsepower for M2- duty. As for the base-spec BMW M2, it will produce 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque and 453 horsepower (338 kW). From 2,650 rpm to 5,870 rpm, peak torque is produced. It also has a redline of 7,200 rpm and reaches its peak power practically shortly after at 6,250 rpm.
The six-speed manual transmission is standard on the BMW M2 G87 in the US. In countries like Germany, the six-speed manual transmission costs an extra 500 euros. While the eight-speed automatic transmission is the norm. However, you get the same 453 horsepower regardless of the transmission choice. This is because there is no power penalty with the manual transmission, unlike the M3 and M4.
Additionally, there is only one drivetrain option, unlike the M3 and M4. The upcoming 2023 BMW M2 G87 only has rear-wheel drive, even though most buyers want an all-wheel drive. There is currently no official announcement. However, BMW may eventually produce an xDrive variant.
According to BMW, the automatic car completes the 0-62 mph sprint in 4.1 seconds, while the manual version needs 4.3 seconds to reach that speed. With the automatic M2, the 0-60 mph time is 3.9 seconds. With an automatic, the 0-124 mph sprint takes 13.5 seconds, and 14.3 seconds with a manual. If you choose the extra M Driver’s Package, the top speed goes up to 177 mph from the usual 155 mph.
The base MSRP of the 2023 BMW M2 G87 is $62,200 plus $995 for destination and handling when it goes on sale in April 2023. Check out more videos on BMW’s several YouTube accounts.
