BMW 330e xDrive Featured in Tanzanite Blue with M Sport Package

BMW USA brought a 330e in addition to the M340i Melbourne Red for a recent media test drive. This plug-in hybrid sports sedan features an xDrive system and Tanzanite Blue II Metallic paint. Thus, it was far from an ordinary variant. Respectively, the asking price is increased by $2,000 and $1,500.

The 3 Series, sold worldwide, has the maximum level of electrification with the 330e. However, BMW has decided to repurpose the “i3” logo in China, where a completely electric version of the vehicle is sold. The moniker is now visible in the long-wheelbase model of the 3 Series Sedan produced and offered there. This continues even though the oddball hatchback was never sold in the People’s Republic.

The first globally accessible i3 won’t be on the market until 2025. But enthusiasts are ensured that it will be mechanically distinct from the existing electric vehicle. It will ride on the Neue Klasse platform rather than the CLAR architecture shared with the combustion-engined 3er. Since BMW decided to extend the present car’s life cycle until 2027, the zero-emission model won’t mean the end of the G20.

The next-generation 3 Series is still in the works and will probably have even more electrification than the current model. While most markets get the less potent 320e with or without AWD, the United States exclusively gets the 330e/330e xDrive. With 292 hp and 420 Nm (309 lb-ft) compared to 204 hp and 350 Nm (257 lb-ft), there is a substantial difference in the output between the two.
