[Video] 2023 BMW X1 xDrive23i Shows off in Acceleration Tests

BMW’s redesigned X1 now has an xDrive23i model as its top model. But later next year, a more potent M35i variant will be added to the lineup. The crossover provides more than enough power for the typical luxury small crossover customer. This is a fact, even though it is not an M Performance variant. It carries ample power for a family car. Thanks to its turbocharged 2.0-litre gasoline engine, which produces 201 horsepower and 320 Nm (235 lb-ft).

The temporary top-of-the-line gasoline X1 is only available with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. In this video, this model was put to the test in a series of acceleration tests. The third-generation car accelerates to 62 mph (100 km/h) from a stop in 6.8 seconds. It’s three-tenths of a second faster than claimed. In 17.2 seconds, it reached 100 mph (161 km/h), and in 32.7 seconds, it reached 124 mph (200 km/h).

The GPS-verified top speed of the 2023 BMW X1 xDrive23i was 136 mph (219 km/h). This is lower than the 145 mph (233 km/h) stated by the manufacturer. The run was likely done on the part of the Autobahn that wasn’t constrained. This is also where traffic might have kept the car from achieving its top speed.

The tests we believe were more important were those in which the driver accelerated the X1 from 80 to 120 km/h (50 to 75 mph) in 4.3 seconds and from 70 to 140 km/h (43 to 87 mph) in 8.2 seconds while using the Sport Plus mode. These sprints give you a better idea of how the xDrive23i performs in regular highway driving situations where you must pass someone.

Since the upcoming M35i is anticipated to have an upgraded B48 engine with 315 horsepower, it should be substantially faster. Although the torque is still unknown, the latest BMW M Performance small cars have 450 Nm (332 lb-ft). A quad exhaust system will be one of the modifications that will accompany the stronger engine.
