Diesel engines are still widely used in Europe even if there is a movement toward electrification. Therefore, it is not surprising that BMW still offers diesel engine enthusiasts products, at least in the short term. For instance, consider the recently released BMW X1. The new U11 X1 offers diesel drivetrain choices and a large selection of gasoline and electrified drivetrains. BMW X1 xDrive23d is among them.
The X1 23d’s B47 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine generates 211 horsepower and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). This allows it to go from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h) with ease. The 48V mild hybrid diesel engine only functions with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Lastly, this BMW X1 xDrive23d has a standard consumption of 4.8 to 5.4 litres per 100 kilometres, depending on the configuration.
The BMW X1 is at hand in several colour options in addition to the standard flat and metallic whites and blacks. These options include Phytonic Blue, Storm Bay (grey), Portimao Blue, Cape York Green, San Remo Green, Frozen Pure Grey, and Utah Orange. All colours look fantastic on the X1 and are all metallic. Inside, there are also some excellent choices. On an entry-level crossover, the black Alcantara option is cool. Other options include red/black leather, dark brown Mocha leather, and Sensatec.
Since October 2022, BMW now offers the new compact crossover for sale in Europe with diesel and gasoline engine options. Two plug-in hybrid models and two mild hybrid powertrains now under development will eventually join these. Of course, the electric iX1 will also be available, and the X1 M35i, the first-ever M Performance variant, will cap the range. In Germany, the starting price for the BMW X1 xDrive23d is 50,150 euros.
