[VIDEO] BMW i4 M50- Testing Top Speed Limits

Driving a car at high speeds can be draining for its battery, especially in cold weather. The BMW i4 M50 is no exception, as demonstrated by Norwegian Youtuber Bjorn Nyland in a recent video. In the video, Nyland drives the i4 M50 at its top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h). It also delivers occasional bursts reaching up to 142 mph (230 km/h). The battery drains quickly under these conditions, highlighting the limitations of current electric vehicle technology. Until battery technology improves, electric vehicles may struggle to maintain their range in cold weather and at high speeds. Despite this, the i4 M50 is still a powerful and fun car to drive. Also, it is worth experiencing at its full potential at least once.

The BMW i4 M50’s battery is tested at high speeds in the video. Interestingly, the i4 M50 sustains a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h). It also achieves a range of 94 miles (150 km) on 650 wh per kilometre. On average, the car uses 475-503 wh per kilometre. Meanwhile, the battery pack reaches 3% at the end of the test. The car’s efficiency is similar to that of the Tesla Model 3 Performance, which uses 464-502 wh per kilometre at a slightly higher average speed.

The BMW i4 M50 is a powerful electric vehicle with an impressive range. On paper, it has a maximum range of 227 miles, thanks to its 83.9-kWh battery, 20″ wheels, and dual electric motors. These motors produce a combined output of 536 horsepower and 586 lb-ft of torque, and the car weighs 5,086 lbs. Recent tests have shown that it can even exceed its EPA rating, with some magazines reporting a range of 268 miles on a full charge.

Driving at high speeds is not advisable for electric car owners who want to maximize efficiency. However, the BMW i4 M50 is a powerful and fun vehicle worth experiencing at its full potential at least once. Although it is unlikely that drivers in Germany or elsewhere would regularly drive their electric cars at top speeds, the i4 M50 can deliver impressive performance and power. It is one of the most exciting cars that BMW currently offers.
