BMW iX and i7 will Join Japan’s Luxury Taxi Fleet

Japan’s MK Group runs the country’s most luxurious taxi fleet services. It also just added a bunch of electric BMW models to its various fleets. Spread out among the two different divisions, the Kyoto MK and Tokyo MK fleets, it’s added five BMW iXs and 30 BMW i7s.

MK claims expanding its electrified high-end vehicles fleet would change and decarbonize urban travel. It’s also advantageous for MK. This is because it can provide clients who favour zero-emission vehicles. Also, with a method to travel in style around Japanese cities. Hiring an EV taxi like a BMW iX is a helpful service. Many wealthy customers prefer the environmentally friendly image that comes with driving an EV. Kyoto MK agrees since it intends to electrify 30% of its fleet by 2025.

The BMW i7 is not the first electric vehicle but the first luxury electric sedan in MK’s fleet. It now has a few other hybrids in addition to Mercedes-Benz EQCs. The Rolls-Royce Ghost and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class are the only high-end luxury sedans, though. Given that its interior and cabin technology are flashier and more interesting than those found in the Mercedes EQS sedan, the BMW i7 is likely the most remarkable electric luxury automobile now available.

The only BMW i7 sedan currently available is the xDrive60. It comes equipped with two electric motors that produce a combined 536 horsepower and 549 lb-ft of torque. Although it claims to be able to go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, the actual time is shorter. Anyone who books one as a taxi is, therefore in for a wild journey. Tell the driver to step on it to experience the full force of the electric motor.

It would be amazing if MK offered the theatre screen option on their fleet of i7s, allowing users to view movies in the rear seat. That would be the pinnacle of care, and it would set the fleet of BMWs apart from the rest of the MK’s vehicles.
