[VIDEO] Which Long-Range EV Reigns Supreme?

The BMW iX has been controversial since its launch, with opinions split over its design, price, and power compared to other electric vehicles. Despite this, the iX proves to be a surprisingly efficient electric car, capable of achieving more miles per charge than BMW claims. But how does it stack up against the most efficient long-range EVs on the market?

Carwow’s Mat Watson put the BMW iX to the test, driving it from full to flat battery in a mix of real-world conditions, and compared its performance to that of the UK’s longest-range EVs: the Mustang Mach-E, Tesla Model 3, and Mercedes-EQS. The four cars were driven on the highway at a constant 70 mph, with the climate control and adaptive cruise control on, to get the most accurate representation of each car’s maximum range.

Watson tested a BMW iX xDrive50 model, which is fitted with larger 21-inch wheels and has a claimed maximum range of 369 miles. Despite this, the results were still expected to give us a good idea of how the iX’s efficiency compares to the other electric vehicles in the test.
