The 2023 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is the most affordable new BMW. Yet, that does not imply that it is a clearance item. In contrast, it is a much better entry-level car overall than the previous 320i. While lacking rear-wheel drive, it has front- or all-wheel drive options and handles like a BMW. The 2023 BMW 2 Series Coupe is examined separately as the coupe version. Overall, the Gran Coupe is not as luxurious as its name would suggest. But it still has excellent standard features and is a reliable everyday vehicle.
In 2023, BMW will offer two powertrain options for its 2 Series Gran Coupe. The 228i and 228i xDrive differ only in their drive systems. Both models run on a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The M235i xDrive can accelerate from zero to sixty miles per hour in under five seconds. It comes with exclusive all-wheel drive. It also boasts a more powerful turbo-four that generates 302 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque.
Generally, the 2 Series performs on par with or better than its competitors. Buyers comparing it to the Acura Integra or Audi A3 will find it more responsive and potent. Eight-speed automatic transmissions maximize efficiency while convincingly simulating a performance automobile in Sport mode or using the paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
The BMW 228i Gran Coupe has an EPA rating of 24 city/34 highway for a combined rating of 28 mpg. The overall mpg for 2023 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe xDrive models will be one less. As long as you can keep your foot off the throttle, the hotter M235i xDrive mimics the performance of the less powerful xDrive variant. If you usually drive on highways, you should be able to see about 400 miles from a tank thanks to the 13.2-gallon capacity.
The 2023 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe’s interior is typical BMW and seems much more premium than the vehicle’s MSRP would imply. It is difficult to distinguish the inside of this vehicle from nearly any other BMW still running iDrive 7 thanks to the standard Sensatec upholstery and Live Cockpit Plus (2023 X3, 2023 5 Series, etc.). We would at least add heated seats and a heated steering wheel ($550) and the Convenience Package ($1,650) for keyless entry and a panoramic sunroof because the standard comfort options are limited.
The 2023 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe continues to provide great value regarding driving aid technology. Frontal collision warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and speed limit information are all standard. Active Cruise Control is also an option.
