BMW iX2: Now with 308 HP and 279 Miles of Range

BMW’s electrification journey takes a bold step forward with the iX2, an all-electric counterpart to the second-generation X2. The initial offering is the xDrive30 model, equipped with dual motors for all-wheel drive. Budget-conscious buyers can anticipate a single-motor eDrive20 variant arriving in the summer of 2024.

Sharing its platform with the X2, the iX2 showcases enhanced aerodynamics, sporting a remarkable drag coefficient 0.25. Features like a sealed underbody and a closed-off kidney grille contribute to its streamlined design. In addition, the iX2 retains its styling cues from the X2 with subtle changes.

The iX2 xDrive30 offers a WLTP cycle range of 259 to 279 miles. Efficiency improves thanks to a cabin-preconditioning heat pump. The iX2 impresses with its 5.6-second 0 to 62 mph acceleration and 308 hp dual-motor setup, topping at 112 mph. The eDrive20 variant will match the performance of its iX1 counterpart.

BMW iX2 offers flexible charging with 11 kW and 22 kW standard options. The larger battery does slightly impact cargo space. The iX2 features M Sport packages, various paint finishes, and a tech-savvy interior with the iDrive 9 infotainment system. The iX2 will debut at the Japan Mobility Show. Its market release is scheduled for March 2024.
