2024 BMW i5 M60 Shines in Italian Brooklyn Grey Photoshoot

Italy welcomes the eighth-generation BMW 5 Series G60, showcasing its luxury sedans. Previously, the team highlighted the Tanzanite Blue Metallic 520d xDrive with Shadowline enhancements. Now, they introduce the electric M Performance model, the i5 M60. In striking Brooklyn Grey, it features a fully blacked-out kidney grille adorned with the prominent M emblem.

The BMW i5 M60 boasts the largest 21-inch bi-color wheels ever factory-installed on a 5 Series. However, for those concerned about range, smaller 19- and 20-inch wheel options are available. As the flagship model, it features enhanced M Sport brakes, identifiable by their red callipers, until the M5’s 2024 debut. Additionally, it comes standard with adaptive M Sport suspension.

BMW has not disclosed plans for a second M Performance model to complement the i5 M60. A potential M560e, a sporty plug-in hybrid with an inline-six engine, might replace the V8-driven M550i from the G30 generation. Meanwhile, the i5 M60 will also be available for the upcoming 5 Series Touring, set to launch in early 2019. However, the G61 won’t hit U.S. markets, where the eagerly anticipated G99 M5 Touring will be exclusively available.

For an eight-cylinder experience, only the M5 sports the twin-turbo 4.4-litre “S68” engine, borrowed from larger models like the 760i. Every 5 Series vehicle, regardless of its powertrain, utilizes the CLAR chassis standard with the 7 Series. This includes the electric M Performance variant, the i7 M70. While BMW does offer an electric 3 Series sedan, the long-wheelbase i3, it’s exclusive to China and doesn’t come in a sporty variant.
