BMW X2 M35i Takes 2nd Place at Rebelle

At BMW of North America’s Test Fest, we witnessed the 2024 BMW X2 M35i—a car that went beyond the ordinary. This X2 M35i, a pre-production model, dared to compete in the 2023 Rebelle Rally, a 1,500-mile off-road challenge across California and Nevada deserts.

In the Rebelle Rally, cars remain unmodified, relying solely on their inherent capabilities. No GPS is allowed; teams navigate with maps, a compass, and a roadbook. Outside help is strictly prohibited.

The X2 M35i, in the 2023 Rebelle Rally’s X-Cross class, secured an impressive second place. Enhanced with specific tires, wheels, and off-road gear, its powertrain—the B48 2.0-liter TwinTurbo engine—remained untouched, delivering 312 horsepower and a 5.2-second 0-60 mph acceleration.

The rugged X2 M35i, a true off-road champion, hits U.S. dealerships in Q1 2024, starting at $51,400. The 2023 Rebelle Rally wasn’t just a race; it was a test of endurance, and the X2 M35i emerged victorious.
