Inspired by Esther Mahlangu’s groundbreaking design on the 525i E34, this one-of-a-kind electric sedan marks a fusion of art and technology. Unveiled at the prestigious Frieze Los Angeles art fair, the i5 Flow NOSTOKANA captivates with its dynamic exterior, adorned with color-changing E Ink reminiscent of the acclaimed iX Flow SUV.
At the heart of the BMW i5 Flow NOSTOKANA lies a mesmerizing display of E Ink technology, meticulously crafted to animate the sedan’s exterior. With over 1,300 individually controllable sections, the car’s surface comes alive, showcasing a symphony of colors and patterns. Evolving from previous iterations, this advanced E Ink film not only offers a broader spectrum of hues but also boasts enhanced durability, hinting at the potential for future mass production.
Behind the scenes, a meticulous process unfolds as artisans meticulously cut and shape the E Ink film to adorn the curved surfaces of the BMW i5 Flow NOSTOKANA. Each strip, housing millions of microcapsules, undergoes precise electronic manipulation to achieve its dynamic visual effects. Renowned acoustic engineer Renzo Vitale adds another layer of artistry, creating a unique sound profile that complements the car’s futuristic design.
