[VIDEO] BMW X6 Faces Off in Triple SUV Drag Race

Sam, the popular host of the Sam CarLegion YouTube channel, has once again thrilled his followers with a drag-and-roll race featuring mid-size crossover SUVs. This time, the lineup includes the BMW X6, Ford Explorer ST, and Dodge Durango SRT 392. Using a former airfield strip in Canada that now serves as a liaison road for agricultural purposes, Sam provides a unique setting that highlights real-world vehicle performance.

This race tests the raw power of these SUVs and their handling and performance in less-than-ideal conditions due to the humid weather. Despite the damp track, Sam orchestrated the usual roll races to warm up the tyres, beginning with matchups between the Explorer ST and X6, followed by the Explorer ST against the Durango SRT 392.

In the first encounter, the Ford Explorer ST, with its 400 hp twin-turbo V6, initially outpaced the BMW X6, powered by a turbo inline-six delivering 335 hp—although BMW is known for understating power figures. During the rolling starts at 60 kph and 80 kph speeds, the Explorer extended its lead significantly.

However, the standing starts to tell a different story. Sam narrowly clinched the first run against the BMW, setting a final drag time where the X6 came ahead with a marginally better finish. The battle with the Dodge Durango SRT 392, packing a robust 6.4-litre V8 with 475 hp, was equally intense. The Ford snagged a narrow victory in the initial roll race but couldn’t maintain its lead in the standard quarter-mile drag, where the Durango showcased its strength.

The direct drag race between the BMW X6 and the Dodge Durango resulted in a clear win for the Durango, beating the BMW by a significant margin. This series of races not only entertained but also provided valuable insights into these competitive SUVs’ capabilities and performance dynamics under challenging conditions.
