The new BMW M5 has officially begun production at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing, marking a significant milestone with its electrified drive train. This seventh-generation M5 features the M HYBRID system, combining a V8 engine and e-drive to achieve a powerful 727 hp. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, and its high-voltage battery provides an electric range of up to 69 km, a first in its class.
Plant Director Christoph Schröder expressed pride in building the latest M5, continuing a legacy that began in the 1980s. Key components, like the model-specific chassis and high-voltage battery, are produced or assembled at nearby facilities, showcasing an integrated production approach.
Unique modifications in the body shop, additional body stiffening measures, and a widened body with flared wheel arches set the M5 apart. Customers can choose from ten standard paint finishes or 150 unique options for a personalized touch.
As production ramps up, several dozen M5 vehicles will be produced daily, with the European market launch set for 2 November 2024. The new BMW M5 Touring model will soon debut, completing the BMW 5 Series range.
