BMW M and RMG Close a Successful Chapter

After 14 successful years, BMW M Motorsport and BMW M Team RMG will conclude their partnership at the end of this season. This collaboration, led by Team Principal Stefan Reinhold, has seen remarkable achievements, including two driver’s championships and a team title in the DTM. Founded in preparation for BMW M Motorsport’s DTM return in 2012, RMG has been pivotal, earning 19 victories between 2012 and 2020.

In recent years, RMG shifted its focus to GT racing, playing a crucial role in developing key BMW M Motorsport vehicles such as the BMW M Hybrid V8, M4 GT3, and M4 GT4. The team’s efforts were not just limited to racing. Still, they extended to serving as the official test team, ensuring that BMW’s racing cars were at the cutting edge of performance and technology.

One of the highlights of their final year was the long-awaited podium finish at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. The #72 BMW M4 GT3, driven by the next generation of racers—Dan Harper, Max Hesse, and Charles Weerts—secured third place after starting from pole position, underscoring the team’s relentless pursuit of excellence.

As the partnership draws to a close, BMW M Motorsport’s Head, Andreas Roos, expressed deep gratitude for RMG’s dedication and contributions. He acknowledged the team’s vital role in BMW’s racing success and the unforgettable moments they shared, especially their victories in the DTM.
