Revving Up for Austin: FIA WEC Returns to COTA

The FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) is heading to Texas for an exciting race weekend at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin. The Lone Star Le Mans, a 6-hour endurance race, will be the sixth round of the 2024 FIA WEC season from August 30th to September 1st.

BMW M Motorsport and BMW M Team WRT are ready to hit the track with their Hypercar and LMGT3 entries. The teams will face the challenge of Austin’s high temperatures, expected to soar to nearly 40 degrees Celsius. The BMW M Hybrid V8 will be driven by talented racers, including Raffaele Marciello, Dries Vanthoor, and Marco Wittmann in car #15, while Robin Frijns, René Rast, and Sheldon van der Linde take on the challenge in car #20.

In the LMGT3 class, Augusto Farfus, Sean Gelael, and Darren Leung are fighting for a podium finish in the championship. They currently hold third place in the driver standings. Valentino Rossi, a former MotoGP star, will also be competing in Austin. He will transition from two wheels to four as he drives the BMW M4 GT3 alongside Maxime Martin and Ahmad Al Harthy.

The Lone Star Le Mans will kick off at 20:00 CEST (13:00 local time) on Sunday, September 1st. Fans and teams are gearing up for an intense, thrilling race weekend in Texas.
