[Video] BMW 440i Gran Coupe generates whopping 400 HP

The 3.0-litre inline-six has dominated the market since its introduction in the BMW B58. When it first appeared in cars like the BMW 440i and M240i, inline sixes were still a rarity in the automotive industry, so there was little to no competition for them. Things have evolved somewhat since the B58’s introduction, but it has not remained static.

It has undergone several improvements over the years to make it even better. With 326 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque, the original version was more than adequate for the vehicles fitted into. Due to evolving emissions regulations and the growing threat of competition, BMW needed to make some changes. Today, we can see it in a wide range of BMW models with power outputs from 335 to 382 hp.

There are tweaks done to produce around 1,000hp since it requires a lot of hardware upgrades. A simple ECU tune and possibly a new exhaust should take the original B58 engine to 400 HP as shown in the video below. The engine appears to have an M Performance exhaust and should deliver: 400 hp and 580 Nm of torque.

Thanks to these new figures, the car is now even faster than before. 4.6 seconds is enough to get from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour, but the top speed has increased from 250 kilometres per hour to 270 kilometres per hour. This is not just a claim, as you will see in the video above.
