The BMW G80 M3 has to prove itself against a multitude of competitors. Even though the spec sheet already reveals that it does not stand a chance, people still want to fight it. BMW is known for being conservative with its numbers, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that it has beaten cars with better specifications. In the following video, the German sedan is pitted against two American rivals.
The Dodge Challenger appears to be a Scatpack model in the video. The 6.4-litre V8 engine produces 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission GM sends power to the rear wheels only. The 1/4 mile should be completed in 11.7 seconds and 0-60 mph in just over 4 seconds, according to theory.
But the Lincoln MKZ is not exactly built for drag racing either. The American-built sedan’s potent 3-litre twin-turbo V6 produces 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. As an all-wheel-drive vehicle, it has an advantage over the M3 in this respect. However, it can only match the Bavarian car’s 0-60 mph acceleration in 5.2 seconds.
The times and seamless gear changes indicate that it is most likely an M3 Competition. That means it has 503 hp, is rear-wheel drive and has an 8-speed automated gearbox for quick shifts. Although the driver of the M3 seemed to have fallen asleep at every launch, none of them had a chance.
