There is a new concept motorbike by BMW in the sight. The Lac Rose (Pink Lake) concept was presented at the Wheels and Waves festival and it was inspired by the history BMW has at the Dakar rally.
Most of the influence for the design of Lac Rose came from the R80 G/S, a leader in the adventure bike section. Actually, if we’re going to be specific, we should mention the R80 G/S Paris-Dakar limited edition, because that’s the model that served as an inspiration in the first place. It was originally made as a celebration model for multiple victories on the Dakar rally.
The basis for the Lac Rose concept is taken from the R nineT because of its high customizability. Edgar Heinrich, BMW Motorrad’s Head of Design, explained the new concept vehicle in more details: “it’s about the simple pleasure of going out and having fun riding with friends on a cool road bike with a suggestion of off-road potential – rather than a purpose-built rally replica.†Heinrich also added, “While the modern liquid-cooled boxer does everything in a top performing way, this bike is more about style.â€
