BMW Motorrad stirs up the excitement of fans by releasing a video teaser on their website showing the highly anticipated BMW inline-6 motorcycle engine. In October 2010, two motorcycles that will be powered by this engine will be launched, together with the full details of the engine. The launch will be held at INTERMOT, the World’s premier motorcycle show.
For now, what we know is that this engine will be the world’s lightest inline-6, weighing just 102.6 kg and measuring only 560mm in width. But the size will not reduce the power. Engine output will be 160 horsepower at 7,500 rpm with 129 lb-ft peak torque at 5000rpm. At 1,500 rpm, 70% of maximum torque will be available — getting these bikes on the list of most powerful in the market.
