Singapore. BMW continues to be the top premium car brand in Singapore. Based on the LTA-published data on new registration of cars, BMW registered a total of 5,039 units of new vehicles in 2012, which translates to a 1.6% increase from the previous year.

Mr. Neil Fiorentinos, Managing Director of BMW Group Asia: “We are very pleased that BMW has continued to be the car brand of choice for Singapore. This is especially in light of the challenging market conditions, including an uncertain economy and a tighter supply of COE quota. In 2012, we have continuously expanded our product portfolio to ensure that our offerings continue to address our customer’s requirements. Meanwhile, we have relentlessly worked on our customer excellence programme on both sales and aftersales to continuously improve our service capabilities and raise our overall customer satisfaction level.”

New models launched in 2012 – including the all-new BMW 3 Series, the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé, the new flagship BMW 7 Series, the new BMW M5, as well as the newly introduced ActiveHybrid range and M Performance Automobiles – have all been well received by our customers. Locally, the BMW 5 Series continues its position as the best-selling BMW model with more than 1,500 units registered. At the same time, in the high-performance niche, the new BMW M5 has received an overwhelming respond with over 60 units registered last year.

“While BMW continues to reach out to the traditional buyers who favour sedans, coupés and convertibles, our new body concepts such as the BMW X1 with a crossover concept and the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé with a 4-door Sports Coupé concept have proved to be equally popular and have enabled us to reach out to a wider range of customers than before. Impressively, the new BMW M Performance Automobiles range has also been relatively popular with a significant number already sold since its introduction in late November 2012.”

BMW welcomes the year 2013 with the arrival of two exciting new products in the first quarter.

The BMW 316i. The world’s best-selling premium car is now available in the form of the BMW 316i. Classified as COE Category A, the BMW 316i comes with a new-generation four-cylinder 1.6-litre petrol engine featuring the BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. It has a maximum output of 136 hp at 4,350 rpm and a peak torque of 220 Nm at 1,350 rpm. The BMW 316i is able to complete the century sprint in 9.2 seconds. Thanks to the Efficient Dynamics technology, the BMW 316i achieves the class-leading fuel economy with an average of 5.9 per 100km and a CO2 emission of 137 grams per kilometre (EU combined test cycle).

The 3-door BMW 118i M Sport. This new variant of BMW 1 Series comes in a sporty 3-door hatchback styling. Powered by BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, the car is designed to be extroverted, sporty and self-confident. The dynamic look of this BMW 1 Series will offer even greater balance between sportiness and driving comfort. With a maximum output of 170 hp at 4,800 rpm, and a maximum torque of 250 Nm at between 1,500 and 4,500 rpm. The BMW 118i is exceptionally responsive and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds with a top speed of 222km/h. It also enjoys exemplary efficiency with a fuel consumption rating of just 5.8 litres per 100km and CO2 emissions of 134 g/km (EU combined test cycle).

Both the BMW 118i (3-door) and BMW 316i will receive a $10,000 CEVS rebate as a result of their low CO2 emissions since the commencement of the new CEVS ruling in January 2013. In order to enable BMW customers to fully enjoy the rebate, the prices of all relevant BMW models (including the two abovementioned models) have already been adjusted to reflect the rebate accordingly.
