A 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe prototype was spotted in German, ahead of its market launch. The vehicle was equipped with the optional adaptive all-LED headlights and tailpipes as seen on the 640i or 640d models which point to an inline six-cylinder 300 hp turbocharged engine found under the hood.
The entry-level model 640i has a 3.0 liter six-cylinder TwinPower rated at 225 kW/315 hp at 5,800 to 6,00 and high peak torque of 330 lb-ft, on stream between 1,300 and 4,500 rpm. The 650i Gran Coupe on the other hand has an upgraded 4.4-liter V-8 engine (N63Tu) that adds BMW’s VALVETRONIC variable valve timing with 445 hp between 5,500 and 6,000 rpm (a 45 hp increase), and peak torque of 480 lb-ft between 2,000 and 4,500 rpm (a 30 lbs-ft increase).
The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is a new 4-door, 4+1 seat addition to the 6 Series line that combines the stunning proportions, design and driving dynamics of the 6 Series Coupe with interior room and amenities for up to five passengers.
