BMW has unveiled an official preview of its next-generation iX3 prototype, offering a closer look at the cutting-edge SUV as it enters the final stages of development. Built on the revolutionary Neue Klasse platform, this electric vehicle marks the beginning of an ambitious line-up of six fully electric models set to debut between 2025 and 2027. Alongside the iX3, an all-electric 3 Series-sized saloon, hinted at by the Vision Neue Klasse concept, is also in the works.

The prototype retains a sleek, SUV-like profile, with notable refinements inspired by BMW’s iconic design language. Camouflage conceals much of the exterior, but key details are visible, including an aerodynamic front grille seamlessly connecting to the headlights. BMW’s take on the Hofmeister kink is reimagined with bold decals on the rear windows, while flush door handles and a roof spoiler enhance the vehicle’s modern aesthetic. The design reflects a unified visual identity for all Neue Klasse models, which also includes forthcoming updates to the i3 and X5.

Inside, the iX3 promises a minimalist yet high-tech cabin inspired by the Vision Neue Klasse concept. Expect a panoramic dashboard screen and an advanced central touchscreen that integrates core vehicle controls. BMW’s Panoramic Vision projection system will also debut, offering an immersive heads-up display experience tailored for varying SUV windshield dimensions. This next-generation interior design will set a new standard for user experience in electric vehicles.

Under the hood, the iX3 is powered by BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, delivering up to 30% more range, faster charging, and increased efficiency. These advancements suggest a potential range exceeding 350 miles on a single charge. The platform supports various configurations, from a standard single rear motor to quad-motor setups, hinting at the possibility of future high-performance M variants.

BMW has ambitious plans for the Neue Klasse platform, with six distinct models slated for release by 2027. This line-up promises to cater to every driver’s needs, from sedans and SUVs to high-performance electric M cars. With the iX3 leading the charge, BMW is set to redefine electric mobility, blending innovative technology with timeless design.
