The BMW 7 Series and i7 primarily share the same architecture. This differs from the Mercedes EQS, supported by a distinct electric vehicle platform from the S- Class foundations. As a result, Bavaria’s flagship model seems almost identical in both ICE and EV forms. The Munich-based carmaker won’t start separating its electric vehicles from those powered by internal combustion engines. This changes with the introduction of the Neue Klasse platform in 2025.
Nevertheless, a new video gives us a more detailed look at BMW’s crown jewel in all-electric form. The i7 xDrive60 is finished in Mineral White Metallic. It also comes with the M Sport Package Pro, which includes several Shadowline features. These features include the black kidney grille and a trunk lid spoiler. It sports optional Swarovski crystals in the top LED daytime running lights and 21-inch wheels with a two-tone finish. The X7 will also soon have this functionality.
You can tell the person who ordered the automobile had good taste when you open the automatic doors resembling Rolls-Royce. A Tartufo Merino leather interior with carbon fiber trim and crystal glass controls is visible in the electrified 7 Series. This also includes the gear selector and iDrive rotary switch. By installing 5.5-inch monitors in the rear door cards, BMW has discovered a way to fit more screens inside its cars, as this new film serves as a timely reminder. The 31.3-inch Theatre Screen that descends from the top is one item that seems to be missing.
Recall that the seventh-generation model is bigger than any previous 7ers. Thanks to a wheelbase that is now 3,215 millimeters long, the spacious back legroom is a clear indication of this (126.5 inches). According to BMW, there is now greater headroom. The load capacities for the gasoline/diesel versions have also grown by 25 liters (to 540 liters) and by 105 liters (to 525 liters), respectively. The trunk of the i7 can hold 500 liters of cargo.
Although the i7 now only has all-wheel drive, an eDrive50 model with rear-wheel drive is anticipated to be released later this year. Also, a 2023 introduction of the i7 M70 M Performance model with over 600 horsepower and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque will enable it to go from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than four seconds.
