The number of BMW i3 sales grows again after the German government’s decision to subsidize the purchases. The plug-in hybrid/electric vehicles are in high demand and are requested multiple times more than when they were first released in 2013.
As Reuters claims, based on the BMW sources, the bigger driving range the new i3 has affected the sales rise. The new version of BMW i3 was introduced a few months ago. With a new battery pack, it has around 50% improved range than the original.
While the old i3 used a 64Ah battery, the new version comes with a 94Ah 33kWh lithium-ion one. The best thing is that the battery size remained the same. This means it can easily fit into the battery tray of the older i3s.
With the subsidy of 4,000 Euro, the high demand isn’t surprising. Over 5,000 orders were placed for this model, more than 1,000 being from Germany. The i3 is not the only car with an incentive offer. The new plug-in hybrid cars that will get a 3,000 Euro subsidy are BMW 330e, X5 xDrive40e, 740e, and 225xe Active Tourer.
