Car and Driver’s annual 10Best list features BMW again, thanks to the BMW i4. In the past, the 3 Series held a long-standing spot on the list. With only the Honda Accord surpassing it in popularity. BMW has not appeared as often on the list recently. However, the i4 brings back the magic that made the brand’s cars unbeatable.
Why did Car and Driver include the BMW i4 on its highly regarded list? The publication noted that the i4 excels in acceleration, handling, smart design, and value, distinguishing it from other sports sedans, electric or not. It may even convince BMW enthusiasts to make the switch to electric vehicles.
The US has three different versions of the BMW i4: the i4 eDrive35, the i4 eDrive40, and the i4 M50. The base i4 eDrive35 and the marginally more expensive i4 eDrive40 are rear-drive, single-motor vehicles. While the latter produces 335 horsepower, the former only produces 281 horsepower. The i4 M50, on the other hand, boasts an all-wheel drive system with dual motors that produce 536 horsepower. The dual-motor M50 can go roughly 270 miles, while both rear-drive vehicles can travel about 300 miles on a single charge.
Inclusion on the Car and Driver 10Best list is a big achievement for the BMW i4, especially considering the other nine cars on the list. The i4 is in good company among sedans like the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. Still, it’s even more impressive to be mentioned alongside sports cars like the C8 Corvette, Toyota GR Corolla, Toyota GR86, and Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman. The BMW i4 is a fantastic everyday car demonstrating that traditional gasoline 3 Series models are now outdated. A new era of BMW sedans has arrived, and it’s an exciting time.
