In early 2022, BMW will unveil one of its latest electric vehicles – the BMW i4 electric Gran Coupe. It is the next generation of electric vehicles from the Bavarian brand and will join the BMW iX electric sedan. There are two powertrain options for the new BMW i4. The i4 eDrive40, with 250 kW/340 hp and a range of 367 miles on the WLTP cycle, has traditional rear-wheel drive. As the first-ever fully electric performance model from BMW M GmbH, the i4 M50 features an xDrive all-wheel-drive chassis. It has an output of 400 kW/544 hp and a range of up to 317 miles on the WLTP cycle.
We can also see some of the M Performance parts that will be available for the i4 from BMW Sweden. Among the various options available in the online configurator are a number of carbon fibre parts such as the grille, diffuser and rear spoiler. There will also be M Sport Steering Wheel, a carbon fibre gear selector and a gold-coloured 20-inch wheel. Since the configurator only mentions the BMW i4 M50, it is unclear if the M Performance Parts will be offered for both variants. However, the M Performance Parts will definitely be available, just like on all other BMW models.
In addition, the online visualiser offers a wide range of exterior and interior colours. M Portimao Blue, M Brooklyn Grey and BMW Individual Frozen Portimao Blue metallic are only for the M Sport/i4 M50 models. BMW Individual colours such as Dravit Grey metallic, Tanzanite Blue metallic and Aventurine Red metallic are also available. Other metallic exterior colours include Black and Alpine White uni, Sapphire Black, Mineral White, Sunset Orange, San Remo Green and Skyscraper Grey.
With a range of leather and Sansatec options, the upholstery choice is similarly impressive. It includes perforated eco-leather in Sensatec colour combinations such as Canberra Beige/Black, Canberra Beige, Cognac/Black, Tacora Red /Black, and Black. Leather Vernasca is also available in Cognac, Black, Black with blue contrast stitching, Oyster, Mocha and Tacora Red. There is also an Alcantara/ Sensatec Black combination with blue contrast stitching.
Pre-orders for the BMW i4 electric Gran Coupe have surpassed those for the BMW iX, according to unofficial sources. Both the BMW i4 40 and i4 M50 are now available for pre-order.
