[Video] BMW i4 M50 Makes Interesting EV Noises on Its Top Speed Run

The BMW i4 M50 is undoubtedly one of the sportiest EVs you can buy now. This is a fact even though it isn’t a genuine M car. We can also say the same thing about its “engine noises”. This M Performance model brings a great deal of performance. Meanwhile, BMW recently displayed a transformed i4 with a quad-motor system. This shows how work has begun on a full-fat M electric vehicle.

The newest electric Gran Coupe made a trip to an open portion of the Autobahn for its top-speed run and a few hard launches. IconicSounds Electric, an optional feature present on this i4 M50 unit, was created with four-time Grammy winner Hans Zimmer. We can all agree that BMW has produced some fascinating EV noises, even though the sounds are fake. Also, many people prefer the completely silent experience.

The BMW i4 M50’s 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) time of 3.72 seconds significantly beats the 3.9-second time stated by the German automaker. A record that supports its futuristic soundscape. Its sprint from 62 to 124 mph (100 to 200 km/h), which took about eight and a half seconds, is arguably more astounding. BMW’s zero-emissions 4 Series Gran Coupe boasts more power for a longer period of time than most EVs. Moreover, these EVs also tend to lose power at higher speeds.

The electronically limited 140 mph (225 km/h) top speed indicated by the Bavarian brand on the specs sheet is comparable to the 141 mph (227 km/h) top speed. And to be honest, this is nothing to get excited about. Despite the i4 M50’s larger size compared to an M3 Sedan or an ALPINA B3, people who have driven it have lauded its handling regardless of the numbers. Future electric vehicles may lose some weight for improved performance and economy. Thanks to ongoing developments in battery technology that increase energy density.

Before the Neue Klasse appears in 2025, a real electric M is unlikely to exist. In a recent presentation to the media, BMW may have hinted at the existence of a sports car without a combustion engine. But don’t hold your breath for its appearance any time soon.
