There were a lot of beautiful cars at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed but fresh colors for the BMW i8 stood out. The two BMW i8 hybrid sports cars in Protonic Red and Frozen Orange was presented together with the fresh 8 Series Concept, M4 CS and i8 by Garage Italia.
When the i8 was launched three years ago, the BMW i8 was only available in Ionic Silver, Crystal White and Sophisto Grey colors. Protonic Blue and Protonic Red colors plus some individual programs were added eventually. In the UK for example, BMW’s new Individual color collection includes Java Green, Speed Yellow, Solar Orange, Twilight Purple Pearl, Frozen Grey, Frozen Black, San Marino Blue and Grigio Telesto Pearl, among others. Later this year we are also expecting for the the BMW i8 Protonic Frozen Yellow Edition to launch.
The BMW i8 packs a hybrid powertrain that combines a 1.5 liter three-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motors, powering all four wheels. The combustion engine develops 170 kW/231 hp and drives the rear wheels of the BMW i8. There is also a 96 kW/131 hp electric drive that which sends its power to the front wheels and allows an all-electric range of up to 35 kilometers (22 miles) and a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph). The i8 will accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in just 4.2 seconds.
