Exploring the 2023 BMW i5 M60 in Black Sapphire

Black Sapphire has been unveiled as a new colour option for the BMW i5 M60. This dark shade provides the i5 M60 with a more ominous appearance than the car’s original Fire Red paint. The Extended Shadowline option for the BMW i5 M60 in Black Sapphire additionally gives the vehicle blacked-out details. This includes the kidney grille, window trim, and exhaust tips. The wheels have silver and black spokes and are likewise dual-tone.

It is not surprising that darker colours always prefer larger and bolder cars. The i5 M60 has a threatening appearance because of the Black Sapphire paint, which is a dark, rich black. The dark hue makes the massive kidney grille, pointed headlamps, and aggressive bumper stand out. The Illuminated Kidney Grille feature is an additional option for this specific model. The Black Sapphire paint further enhances the i5 M60’s softer side design. The smooth bodywork and sloping roofline create a sleek and posh appearance.

The i5 M60 is a BMW M Performance model that produces 590 horsepower and 549 pound-feet of torque. It also utilizes two motors and an xDrive all-wheel drive. In just 3.7 seconds, the M60 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph when Sport Boost/Launch Control is used. On the 2024 BMW i5 M60, a new Adaptive M Suspension Professional has Integral Active Steering, electronically adjustable dampers, and a 0.3-inch lower ride height. Since it is an electric vehicle, the range is equally crucial. According to the EPA, the i5 M60’s estimated range is 265 miles.

The BMW i5 encompasses all the state-of-the-art technology found in other contemporary BMW vehicles. It boasts a sleek curved touchscreen that seamlessly integrates Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and built-in navigation, complemented by user-friendly voice commands and more. The MyBMW App connection proves especially advantageous for electric vehicles, allowing pre-conditioning and scheduling of charging.

Additionally, the BMW i5 introduces intriguing new features, such as the ability to play video games while driving via the AirConsole app on a smartphone. The standard BMW Interaction Bar provides convenient climate controls, adding a touch of elegance and simplicity to the i5’s overall appeal.

For the new BMW i5 and 5 Series vehicles, BMW once again offers a delicious fusion of timeless favourites and advanced options. For a classic look, there are readily available colours like Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire, Carbon Black, Mineral White and Alpine White. After a protracted hiatus (apart from a brief appearance on the iX), Sophisto Grey and the mysterious Oxide Grey make a comeback. Cape York Green and Brooklyn Grey are new accents with a modern twist. Frozen Tanzanite Blue, Frozen Deep Grey and Frozen Pure Grey are three other enticing frozen colour schemes offered by BMW.

However, the Black Sapphire steals the show in these particular pictures. For those looking for an athletic yet sophisticated look, this deep black colour is an excellent choice. It seamlessly enhances the first-ever BMW i5 M60’s sense of luxury and refinement. [Images via BMW Spain]
